Remove the engine (See page ).

Remove the 4 bolts and compressor mounting bracket.

Remove the timing belt (See page ).

Remove the injection pump (See page ).

Remove the 3 bolts, outlet housing and gasket.

Remove the water by-pass hose union.

Remove the 3 bolts and pump bracket.

Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting bracket.

Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting bracket.

Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 generator bracket.

Using the crankshaft pulley bolt, turn the crankshaft 90° counterclockwise and align the timing mark of the crankshaft timing pulley with the protrusion of the timing belt case.

• Set the No. 1 cylinder to 90° BTDC/compression to avoid interference with the piston top and valve head.

Using SST, loosen the pulley bolt.

Using SST, separate the timing pulley from the camshaft.

Remove the pulley bolt and timing pulley.

Remove the timing pulley woodruff key.

Remove the 4 bolts and timing belt cover.

Remove the 6 bolts and tension spring bracket.

Remove the water pump and gasket.

Remove the 2 bolts (A and B).

Loosen the bolt (C), and remove the No. 1 timing belt idler.

Remove the bolt, No. 2 timing belt idler and spacer.

Using a screwdriver, remove the crankshaft timing pulley.

• If the timing pulley cannot be removed by using a screwdriver, remove it with SST.

Remove the 16 bolts and 2 nuts.

Insert the blade of an oil pan seal cutter between the oil pan and cylinder block, cut off the applied sealer and remove the oil pan.

Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts, oil strainer and gasket.

Remove the 5 bolts, timing belt case and gasket.

Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.

• ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:

• Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

Clean the threads of the oil pressure switch and apply adhesive to them.

• Adhesive:
• Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent

• ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:

• Do not apply adhesive to the oil inlet port of the oil pressure switch.

Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch.

• 15 N*m{ 150 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf}

• Do not start the engine within 1 hour of installation.

Connect the vacuum pump oil inlet hose with a new gasket and the union bolt.

• 14 N*m{ 140 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf}

• When tightening the inlet hose, hang the stopper-bar of the inlet hose on the filter bracket to prevent the inlet hose from rotating.

Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring.

Install the O-ring to the dipstick guide.

Install the dipstick guide with the 2 bolts.

• 18 N*m{ 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf}

Install the dipstick.

Disconnect the sensor connector.

Detach the wire harness clamp.

Loosen the hose clamp and remove the resonator with air cleaner cap.

Detach the 4 hook clamps, and then remove the air cleaner cap and resonator with air cleaner cap.

Start the engine. Make sure that there are no oil leaks from the areas that were worked on.

Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

Start the engine.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

• Standard Resistance:

• Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
  1 - Body ground	Engine stopped	Below 1 Ω
  	Engine idling	10 kΩ or higher

If the result is not as specified, replace the oil pressure switch assembly.

Disconnect the sensor connector.

Detach the wire harness clamp.

Loosen the hose clamp and remove the resonator with air cleaner cap.

Detach the 4 hook clamps, and then remove the air cleaner cap and resonator with air cleaner cap.

Remove the dipstick.

Remove the 2 bolts and dipstick guide.

Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.

Remove the union bolt and gasket, and then disconnect the vacuum pump oil inlet hose from the cylinder block.

Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.

Remove the 2 bolts and engine under cover seal.

Remove the oil filler cap.

Remove the oil drain plug and gasket, and then drain the oil into a container.

Clean the drain plug and install it with a new gasket.

Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine under cover.

Using SST, remove the oil filter.

Check and clean the oil filter installation surface.

Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.

Install the oil filter and tighten it by hand until the gasket contacts the installation surface.

Using SST, tighten the oil filter. Choose from the following to further tighten the oil filter.

Using a torque wrench, tighten the oil filter.

Tighten the oil filter a 3/4 turn by hand or with a common wrench.

Add fresh engine oil.

• Standard Engine Oil:

Install the oil filler cap.

Start the engine. Make sure that there are no oil leaks from the areas that were worked on.

Install the rear engine under cover with the 4 bolts.

Install the engine under cover seal with the 2 bolts.

• 29 N*m{ 296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}

Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

If the quality is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and oil filter element (See page ).

Warm up the engine and then wait for 5 minutes after turning the engine off. The oil level should be between the low level and full level marks of the dipstick.

Remove the oil pressure switch (See page ).

Install an oil pressure gauge.

Install the vacuum pump oil inlet hose (See page ).

Install the engine oil level dipstick guide (See page ).

Warm up the engine.

Measure the oil pressure.

• Standard Oil Pressure:

• Condition	Specified Condition
  Idling	29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.3 psi) or higher
  3000 rpm	294 to 539 kPa (3.0 to 5.5 kgf/cm2, 43 to 78 psi)

If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump (See page ).

Remove the engine oil level dipstick guide (See page ).

Remove the vacuum pump oil inlet hose (See page ).

Remove the oil pressure gauge.

Install the oil pressure switch (See page ).
