Rear Brake Removal

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

  3. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD WITH ANTI-SQUEAL SHIMS

  4. REMOVE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM

  5. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SUPPORT PIN

  7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

Rear Brake -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.


1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL


2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
NOTICE:
If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, wash off or remove the brake fluid completely.


3. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD WITH ANTI-SQUEAL SHIMS

  1. Remove the pin hold clip and disengage the engaged parts of anti-squeal spring.

  1. Remove the 2 pad guide pins and anti-squeal spring.

  1. Remove the 2 brake pads with the anti-squeal shims.



4. REMOVE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
  1. Remove the 4 anti-squeal shims from each pad.



5. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

  1. Remove the union bolt and gasket from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly, then disconnect the flexible hose.



6. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SUPPORT PIN


    Lexus Is250, Is220D. Gse20 Ale20
  1. Remove the No. 1 cylinder support pin and tilt the disc brake cylinder assembly toward the rear of the vehicle.



7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
  1. Remove the 2 bolts and cylinder assembly rear together with the caliper support bracket.

  1. Remove the 2 No. 1 caliper plates from the caliper support bracket.
