  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH

  3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

  4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

  5. DRAIN ENGINE OIL

  6. DRAIN COOLANT

  7. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 IGNITION COIL

  9. DISCONNECT VENTILATION HOSE

  10. DISCONNECT FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  12. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

  13. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT DAMPER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  14. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

  15. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

  16. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY

  17. REMOVE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

  18. REMOVE TRANSVERSE ENGINE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET

  19. REMOVE OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY

Oil Pump (For Hatchback) -- Removal



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH


3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH


4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH


5. DRAIN ENGINE OIL
  1. Remove the oil filler cap.

  1. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.

  1. Clean the drain plug.

  1. Install the drain plug with a new gasket.

    Torque:
    38 N*m{382 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf}


6. DRAIN COOLANT

NOTICE:
To avoid the danger of being burned, do not remove the water filler cap sub-assembly while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Thermal expansion will cause hot coolant and steam to blow out from the radiator assembly.

  1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

  1. Remove the water filler cap sub-assembly.

  1. Loosen the cylinder block drain cock plug, then drain the coolant.



7. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

8. REMOVE NO. 1 IGNITION COIL

9. DISCONNECT VENTILATION HOSE

  1. Disconnect the ventilation hose.



10. DISCONNECT FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose assembly.



11. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.

  1. Disconnect the connector and 4 wire harness clamps shown in the illustration and disconnect the engine wire harness.

  1. Remove the bolt and the wire harness bracket.

  1. Remove the 9 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 seal washers and then remove the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.



12. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

  1. Place a wooden block on a jack underneath the engine.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH.



13. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT DAMPER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Set the No. 1 cylinder to TDC/compression.

    1. Turn the crankshaft damper sub-assembly, and align its timing notch with timing mark "0" of the oil pump.

    3. Check that the timing marks on the camshaft timing sprocket and the camshaft timing gear are all facing upward as shown in the illustration.

      If not, turn the crankshaft 1 complete revolution (360°) and align the marks as above.

  1. Using SST, loosen the bolt while holding the crankshaft damper sub-assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Check the SST installation positions when installing them, to avoid the SST fixing bolts from coming into contact with the oil pump assembly.
  1. Remove the SSTs and the bolt.

  1. Remove the crankshaft damper sub-assembly.



14. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

  1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.

  1. Remove the bolt and camshaft position sensor.



15. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.

  1. Remove the bolt and camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.



16. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY

  1. Using SST, hold the water pump pulley.

  1. Remove the 3 bolts and the water pump pulley.



17. REMOVE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 3 bolts, 2 nuts the water pump assembly and water pump gasket.



18. REMOVE TRANSVERSE ENGINE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and the transverse engine engine mounting bracket.



19. REMOVE OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 15 bolts and the nut.

  1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, pry the oil pump assembly to remove it.

  1. Remove the 2 O-rings from the cylinder block and oil pan sub-assembly.
