DTC B1635/24 Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The rear airbag sensor LH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor LH, door side airbag sensor LH* and rear airbag sensor LH.The side airbag sensor LH, door side airbag sensor LH* and rear airbag sensor LH detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbags should be deployed.DTC B1635/24 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor LH circuit.DTC No.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Check vehicle condition.

Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Check that the connectors are properly connected to the side airbag sensor LH, door side airbag sensor LH and rear airbag sensor LH. Also check that the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH are properly connected.
- OK:
- The connectors are properly connected.
- HINT:
- If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.
Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor LH, door side airbag sensor LH and rear airbag sensor LH. Also disconnect the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH.
Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.
- OK:
- The terminals are not deformed or damaged.
3.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) |
Using SST, connect terminals 4 (BCL+) and 3 (BCL-) of connector C.
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

11.CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH |
Connect the connectors to the side airbag sensor LH and door side airbag sensor LH.
Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Check for DTCs (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).

12.CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH |
Interchange the side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Check for DTCs (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).

Disconnect the connector from the door side airbag sensor LH.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Check for DTCs (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000XFE0H1X.html).
- OK:
- DTC B1635/24 is not output.
- HINT:
- Codes other than DTC B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
14.CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE LH (OPEN) |
Disconnect the front door wire LH connector from the floor wire.
- HINT:
- SST has already been inserted into connector E.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
