Rear Airbag Sensor Removal
PRECAUTION
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP
REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER
REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)
REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side)
REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
REMOVE REAR SEAT CENTER HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side)
REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
Rear Airbag Sensor -- Removal |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
- The following procedure is for the LH side.
- CAUTION:
- Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000KT10H0X.html).
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
3. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE |
Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
4. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP |
for TMC Made:
Align the alignment mark (pink) on the weatherstrip and the protruding portion on the body indicated by the arrow in the illustration, and install the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
- NOTICE:
- After installation, check that the corners fit correctly.
for TMMC Made:
Align the alignment mark (red) on the weatherstrip and the protruding portion on the body indicated by the arrow in the illustration, and install the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
- NOTICE:
- After installation, check that the corners fit correctly.
5. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER |
Remove the spare wheel cover.
6. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY |
Detach the 2 front hooks of the seat cushion from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Follow the instructions below carefully as the cushion frame deforms easily.
Choose a hook to detach first. Place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration. Then lift the seat cushion to detach the hook.
Repeat the above procedure for the other hook.
Detach the rear hook of the seat cushion from the seatback.
Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.
7. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) |
8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side) |
Using a clip remover, remove the 2 rear seat back clips.
Fold the rear seatback assembly LH forward.
Remove the 2 bolts and the rear seatback assembly LH.
9. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) |
10. REMOVE REAR SEAT CENTER HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) |
11. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side) |
Using a clip remover, remove the 2 rear seat back clips.
Fold the rear seatback assembly RH forward.
Remove the 2 bolts and the rear seatback assembly RH.
12. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH |
Disengage the 2 claws, 2 clips and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.
13. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR |
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Disconnect the connector.
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Remove the nut and rear airbag sensor.
- NOTICE:
- Loosen the nut while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
