Toyota Parking Assist-Sensor System -- Precaution |
1.EXPRESSIONS OF IGNITION SWITCH |
The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
Switch Type Ignition Switch (Position) Engine Switch (Condition) Expression Ignition Switch off LOCK Off Ignition Switch ON ON On (IG) Ignition Switch ACC ACC On (ACC) Engine Start START Start
2.PRECAUTIONS FOR TOYOTA PARKING ASSIST-SENSOR SYSTEM |
For vehicles equipped with a towing hitch, the short detection range for the back sensors can be made larger. The short detection range (continuous sound range) can be made larger to accommodate the difference in vehicle length due to the towing hitch protruding from the rear of the vehicle (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000003IB3000X.html).
If the clearance warning ECU S17-4 (+B) terminal (corner sensor detection range adjusting terminal) does not receive the clearance sonar main switch on signal, the corner sensor detection range becomes narrower (CAMRY_ACV40 X394000006901ZJ.html).
Under the following conditions, the detection function may not function properly:
The sensor is covered with foreign matter, such as mud or snow (detection function returns to normal when the sensor is cleaned).
The sensor is frozen (detection function returns to normal when the temperature of the sensor rises).
The sensor is covered by something such as a hand (detection function returns to normal when the object is removed).
The front or rear bumper is damaged.
The detection range may be affected by the following conditions:
The sensor is covered with foreign matter, such as mud or snow.
The vehicle is in an excessively hot or cold area.
Under the following conditions, a detection error may occur:
Driving on a bumpy road, an unpaved road, or in tall grass.
Ultrasonic waves are received from the horn or parking sonar system of another vehicle, a motorcycle engine, or the air brakes of a large vehicle.
It is raining heavily or a sensor is splashed with water.
The vehicle is tilted at a steep angle.
The vehicle is equipped with an antenna for a two-way radio, or a vehicle equipped with a two-way radio is nearby.
The sensor is covered with foreign matter, such as mud or snow.
The vehicle is moving toward a high curb or the corner of a pointed object.
A sensor is sprayed with high pressure water or steam.
A towing hitch is mounted on the vehicle.
The sensor cannot detect some objects such as the following:
Thin objects, such as wires and ropes
Materials that absorb ultrasonic waves, such as cotton, snow, etc.
Objects with sharp edges
Short objects
Objects that are tall and protrude toward the vehicle above the detection range of the sensors.
An object that is tall and cylindrical is in the area in front of the center of the vehicle.
Other notices:
The sensor cannot detect objects directly under the bumper. (The sensor may detect low objects and thin poles, and then lose track of the objects.)
Beware that the detection range of this system is limited. In certain conditions, some objects may not be detected. As a result, always make sure to check all around the vehicle when driving or parking.
The sensor may not be able to detect obstacles that are too close to the sensor.
The sensor may not be able to detect obstacles if it is dropped or subjected to a strong impact.
