DTC C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU receives signals from the yaw rate and deceleration sensor via the CAN communication system. The yaw rate sensor has a built-in deceleration sensor and detects the vehicle condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2).If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and deceleration sensor and the CAN communication system, DTCs U0123 (malfunction in CAN communication with the yaw rate sensor) and U0124 (malfunction in CAN communication with the acceleration sensor) are stored. These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.DTC Code
| DTC Detection Condition
| Trouble Area
|
C1436
| Either of the following is detected:
- With the vehicle stationary, the yaw rate and deceleration sensor output value is not 0 deg/s.
- Abnormal comparison value.
| Yaw rate and deceleration sensor

Refer to DTCs C1232, C1243 and C1245 (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001RFV02MX_02.html).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- When replacing the yaw rate sensor assembly, perform zero point calibration (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001K1O00SX.html).
- HINT:
- When U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 first (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000YUO048X.html).
1.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (YAW RATE SENSOR) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
Select the Data List mode on the intelligent tester (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000ONK01EX.html).

- NOTICE:
- Check the yaw rate and deceleration sensor signal after replacement (RAV4_ACA30 RM0000022CZ007X.html).
- HINT:
- If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000OS701UX.html).
2.CHECK YAW RATE AND DECELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Check that the yaw rate and deceleration sensor has been installed properly (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001XVO00CX_01_0001.html).
- OK:
- The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
- The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
