DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Separate Type)
REMOVE CONSOLE BOX (for Bench Seat Type)
REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Bench Seat Type)
REMOVE CENTER FLOOR CARPET ASSEMBLY (for Bench Seat Type)
REMOVE NO. 1 SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER BOOT
REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE TRANSFER CASE LOWER PROTECTOR
DRAIN MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL
REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
REMOVE TRANSFER AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY
DISCONNECT CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET LH
REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET RH
REMOVE NO. 3 FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE LH
REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE RH
REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION UNIT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
Manual Transmission Assembly -- Removal |
| 1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- NOTICE:
- After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (LandCruiser RM000003YMD00TX.html).
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (LandCruiser RM000003YMF011X.html).

Remove the 4 bolts and center floor carpet assembly.
| 7. REMOVE NO. 1 SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER BOOT |
Remove the 4 screws, 2 clips and boot.

| 8. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY |
Detach the shift lever cap boot from the manual transmission.
Cover the shift lever cap with a cloth.
While pressing down on the shift lever cap, turn it counterclockwise, and then pull to remove the shift lever assembly.

| 9. REMOVE TRANSFER CASE LOWER PROTECTOR |
Remove the 4 bolts and transfer case lower protector.
| 10. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL |
Remove the drain plug and gasket, and then drain the manual transmission oil.
Remove the filler plug and gasket.
Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
| 11. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY |
Remove the front exhaust pipe (LandCruiser RM000004567005X.html).
| 12. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY |
Remove the front propeller shaft (LandCruiser RM00000291R00UX.html).
| 13. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY |
Remove the propeller shaft (LandCruiser RM0000029WP00TX.html).
| 14. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS |
Disconnect the 2 connectors and detach the 4 clamps.
| 15. REMOVE TRANSFER AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Detach the clamp and disconnect the 3 breather hoses from the shift lever retainer and transfer adapter.
Remove the breather hose.
| 16. DISCONNECT CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the release cylinder.
| 17. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the starter (LandCruiser RM0000014EG00OX.html).
| 18. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET LH |
Remove the 4 bolts and member bracket.
| 19. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET RH |
Remove the 4 bolts and member bracket.
| 20. REMOVE NO. 3 FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Support the rear side of the transmission with a support stand.
Remove the 4 bolts of the rear No. 1 engine mounting insulator.
Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and frame crossmember.
| 21. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR |
Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting insulator.
| 22. REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE LH |
Remove the 4 bolts and stiffener plate.
| 23. REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE RH |
Remove the 4 bolts and stiffener plate.
| 24. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION UNIT ASSEMBLY |
Using a transmission jack, support the transmission.
Remove the support stand from the transmission.
Remove the 4 bolts and transmission.
| 25. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 8 bolts and bracket.
Remove the transfer assembly from the transmission.
