INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:

1. Before troubleshooting this symptom, make sure no engine immobiliser system DTCs, SFI system (for 2TR-FE, 2TR-FBE, 1GR-FE) or ECD system (for 1KD-FTV, 2KD-FTV) DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the engine immobiliser system DTCs or blocking system DTCs (w/ Blocking System) first.
   
2. For vehicles with blocking system, refer to "Engine does not Start" (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000044SP00XX.html).
   
3. When replacing the transponder key ECU assembly or ECM, refer to the Service Bulletin.
   

1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.
   

   Measurement Condition

   Item	Content
   Tester Connection	G26-13 (EFIO) - G26-16 (GND)
   Tool Setting	10 V/DIV., 100 ms./DIV.
   Condition	Ignition switch ON

   HINT:

   1. The waveform shown in the illustration is an example for reference only. Noise, chattering, etc. are not shown.
      
   2. Check the waveform when the security indicator light assembly is off (the engine immobiliser system is unset). If the security indicator light assembly does not turn off (the engine immobiliser system cannot be unset), refer to the "Problem Symptoms Table (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000Z3601CX.html)".
      

   OK:

   Waveform is output normally (refer to illustration).

1. Temporarily replace the transponder key ECU assembly with a new one (Refer to the Service Bulletin).
   

1. Register the ECU - ECM communication ID (Refer to the Service Bulletin).
   

1. Check that the engine starts normally.
   

   OK:

   Engine starts normally.
