Radiator -- Removal |
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH |
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH |
4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT |
Loosen the lower radiator drain cock plug.
- CAUTION:
- Do not loosen the lower radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator are still hot.
- Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
- HINT:
- Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.
Remove the radiator cap.
Loosen the cylinder block drain cock plug.
5. REMOVE BATTERY |
Remove the bolt, nut and battery clamp.

Remove the battery and battery insulator.
6. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY |
- HINT:
7. REMOVE THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY |
8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR RESERVE TANK HOSE |
Disconnect the radiator reserve tank hose from the radiator assembly.

9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE |
Disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.

10. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE |
Disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.

11. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSE (for Automatic Transaxle) |
Remove the 2 hose clamps, bolt and oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

12. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT |
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 upper radiator supports.

Remove the 2 support cushions from the 2 upper radiator supports.
13. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 3 bolts from the hood lock assembly.

Disconnect the hood lock control cable and remove the hood lock assembly.

14. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE |
Separate the water by-pass hose from the 2 clamps.

Disconnect the water by-pass hose from the radiator assembly.
15. REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 2 bolts and hood lock support sub-assembly.

16. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the horn connector.

Remove the 4 bolts and upper radiator support sub-assembly.
![]() |
17. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD |
Remove the 2 bolts, disengage the 2 claws, and remove the No. 2 fan shroud from the radiator assembly.

18. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the 2 cooling fan motor connectors and wire harness clamp.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the connector.

Remove the radiator assembly with the fan shroud.
- NOTICE:
- Do not apply any excessive force to the cooler condenser assembly or pipe when removing the radiator assembly.

Remove the 2 lower radiator supports.
19. REMOVE OIL COOLER HOSE (for Automatic Transaxle) |
Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the radiator.

Disconnect the clamp from the fan shroud.
Remove the 2 bolts and oil cooler hose.
20. REMOVE FAN SHROUD |
Remove the 2 bolts and fan shroud from the radiator assembly.
