Headlight Dimmer Switch Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  3. REMOVE NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic)

  7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Telescopic)

  8. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

  9. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  10. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

Headlight Dimmer Switch -- Removal



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment (Click here)


2. REMOVE NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER


    Lexus Is250, Is220D. Gse20 Ale20

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the steering wheel No.2 cover lower.

    HINT:
    Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.


3. REMOVE NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the steering wheel No.3 cover lower.

    HINT:
    Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.


4. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  1. Using a "torx" socket wrench (T30), loosen the 2 "torx" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

  1. Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly and support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.

    NOTICE:
    When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

  1. Disconnect the horn connector.

  1. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the steering pad.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  1. Remove the steering pad.



5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic)

  1. Remove the 3 screws.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the steering column cover lower.

    NOTICE:
    Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

  1. Disengage the 4 clips to separate the steering column cover upper.

  1. Disengage the claw to remove the steering column cover upper.



7. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Telescopic)

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover.

  1. Disengage the 4 clips to separate the steering column cover upper.

  1. Disengage the claw to remove the upper steering column cover.



8. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable with steering sensor.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  1. Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable with steering sensor.



9. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

  1. Disengage the claw and remove the windshield wiper switch assembly as shown in the illustration.

    NOTICE:
    If the claw is pushed with excessive force, it may break.


10. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the connector.

  1. Disengage the clamp and claw as shown in the illustration.

  1. Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly as shown in the illustration.
