Rear Stabilizer Bar -- Inspection |
1. INSPECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY |
Inspect the ball joint (Rear stabilizer bar side).
Secure the rear stabilizer link assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
- NOTICE:
- Do not overtighten the vise.
Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
- Turning torque:
- 0.05 to 1.96 N*m (0.51 to 20 kgf*cm, 0.04 to 1.44 ft.*lbf) or less

Inspect the ball joint (rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly side).
Secure the rear stabilizer link assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
- NOTICE:
- Do not overtighten the vise.
Temporarily install the nut and bolt, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
- Turning torque:
- 2.45 N*m (25 kgf*cm, 1.8 ft.*lbf) or less

Check the dust boots for cracks or grease leakage.
