  1. FUEL PRESSURE

  2. INSPECT FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Fuel System -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. FUEL PRESSURE
  1. READ DATA LIST

    1. Warm up the engine.

    2. Turn the engine switch OFF.

    3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the engine switch ON (IG).

    5. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ENGINE / Data List.

    7. Read the Data List.

      Fuel Press
      Fuel pressure/ Min.: 0 MPa, Max.: 655.350 MPa
      37 to 43 MPa: Idling
      Target Common Rail pressure
      Target common rail pressure/ Min.: 0 kPa, Max.: 655.350 kPa
      20 to 180 MPa


2. INSPECT FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR
  1. Remove the No. 1 engine cover.

  1. Remove the bolt and the hose clamp.

  1. Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor connector.



  1. Resistance inspection

    1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

      Standard resistance:
      Terminals
      Condition
      Resistance
      1 - 2
      20°C (68°F)
      2.32 to 2.59 Ω
      1 - 2
      80°C (176°F)
      0.310 to 0.326 Ω
      If the result is not as specified, replace the supply pump assembly.
  1. Connect the fuel temperature sensor connector.

  1. Install the hose clamp with the bolt.

  1. Install the No. 1 engine cover.



3. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS
  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch ON (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ENGINE / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test.

      Test the Fuel Leak
      Pressurize common rail internal fuel pressure, and check for fuel leaks
      Stop/Start
      1. Fuel pressure inside common rail pressurized to specified value and engine speed increased to 2,000 rpm when "Start" is selected
      2. Above conditions to be maintained while "Start" is selected
