Glow Plug -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. CHECK GLOW PLUG ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the glow plug connector (Click here).

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Item
    		Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    w/ DPF
    		Glow plug terminal - Body ground
    		20°C (68°F)
    		0.7 Ω or higher
    w/o DPF
    		Approximately 1 Ω
    NOTICE:
    1. Be careful not to damage the glow plug, as this may cause an open circuit or shorten the life of the glow plugs.
    2. Do not allow oil or gasoline to contact the glow plug when cleaning it.
    3. Clean any oil on the terminal and bakelite washer with a dry cloth.
    4. Do not apply more than 11 V to the glow plug, as this may cause an open circuit.
    1. If the result is not as specified, replace the glow plug assembly.

  1. Install the glow plug connector (Click here).
