Vane Pump (For Tr Series Engine) -- Reassembly |
- NOTICE:
- When using a vise, place aluminum plates between the part and vise.
- When using a vise, do not overtighten it.
1. INSTALL VANE PUMP HOUSING OIL SEAL |
Using SST and a press, press in a new oil seal.
- SST
- 09950-60010
09950-70010(09951-00280,09951-07100)
- NOTICE:
- Make sure to install the oil seal so that it face the correct direction.
- Be careful not to damage the oil seal.

2. INSTALL SHAFT WITH PULLEY |
Coat the shaft with power steering fluid.
Tape the serrated part of the shaft.

Install the shaft with pulley to the front housing.
3. INSTALL FRONT VANE PUMP SIDE PLATE |
Coat a new No. 2 O-ring with power steering fluid.

Install the No. 2 O-ring to the front housing.
Coat a new No. 1 O-ring with power steering fluid.

Install the No. 1 O-ring to the front side plate.
Install the front side plate to the front housing while aligning the semicircle-shaped cuts of both parts.
- NOTICE:
- Be sure to install the plate in the correct position and with the correct orientation.

4. INSTALL VANE PUMP CAM RING |
With the inscribed mark facing upward, install the vane pump cam ring to the front housing while aligning the semicircle-shaped cuts of both parts.

- Be sure to install the plate in the correct position and with the correct orientation.

5. INSTALL VANE PUMP ROTOR |
Install the vane pump rotor to the front housing.
- HINT:
- The top and bottom of the vane pump rotor are symmetrical.

Coat the 10 vane pump plates with power steering fluid.

Install the 10 vane pump plates.
- NOTICE:
- Make sure that the round ends of the vane pump plates are facing outward.
6. INSTALL VANE PUMP SHAFT SNAP RING |
Using a screwdriver and snap ring expander, install a new snap ring to the shaft with pulley.

7. INSTALL REAR HOUSING |
Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the rear housing.

Align the straight pin of the rear housing with the hole created by the semicircle-shaped cuts of the cam ring, front side plate and front housing. Then install the rear housing with the 4 bolts.
- Torque:
- 22 N*m{224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf}
- NOTICE:
- Make sure that the O-ring is not out of position before installing the rear housing.
8. INSPECT ROTATING TORQUE |
Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.

Temporarily install the service bolt.
- Recommended Service Bolt:
Item Specified Condition Thread Diameter 10 mm (0.394 in.) Thread Pitch 1.25 mm (0.0492 in.) Bolt Length 50 mm (1.97 in.)
Using a torque wrench, check the pump rotating torque.
- Standard rotating torque:
- 0.27 N*m (3 kgf*cm, 2 in.*lbf) or less
9. INSTALL POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH |
Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the oil pressure switch.
Install the oil pressure switch to the vane pump.
- Torque:
- 21 N*m{214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}
10. INSTALL FLOW CONTROL VALVE |
Coat the compression spring and flow control valve with power steering fluid.

Install the compression spring.
Install the flow control valve so that it faces the correct direction.
Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the pressure port union.
Install the pressure port union.
- Torque:
- 69 N*m{704 kgf*cm, 51 ft.*lbf}
11. INSTALL VANE PUMP OIL RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid, and install it to the vane pump oil reservoir.
Install the vane pump oil reservoir to the vane pump with the 3 bolts.
- Torque:
- 9.0 N*m{92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf}
12. INSTALL VANE PUMP OIL RESERVOIR CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY |
