  1. CHECK BRAKE CYLINDER AND PISTON

  2. CHECK PAD LINING THICKNESS

  3. CHECK DISC THICKNESS

  4. CHECK DISC RUNOUT

Front Brake (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) -- Inspection



1. CHECK BRAKE CYLINDER AND PISTON

  1. Check the cylinder bore and piston for rust and scoring.
    If necessary, replace the cylinder and piston.



2. CHECK PAD LINING THICKNESS


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness.

    Standard thickness:
    11.5 mm (0.453 in.)
    Minimum thickness:
    1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)
    If the pad lining thickness is less than the minimum, replace the pad.


3. CHECK DISC THICKNESS


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Using a micrometer, measure the disc thickness.

    Standard Thickness:
    Item

    for 15 inch Front Disc Brake
    		25.0 mm (0.984 in.)
    for 16 inch Front Disc Brake
    		28.0 mm (1.102 in.)
    Minimum Thickness:
    Item
    		Specified Condition
    for 15 inch Front Disc Brake
    		23.0 mm (0.906 in.)
    for 16 inch Front Disc Brake
    		26.0 mm (1.024 in.)
    If the disc thickness is less than the minimum, replace the disc.


4. CHECK DISC RUNOUT


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Check the front axle hub bearing looseness (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000112N013X_03_0005.html) and front axle hub runout (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000112N013X_03_0006.html).

  1. Install the disc with the 6 hub nuts.

    Torque:
    105 N*m{1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}

  1. Using a dial indicator, measure the disc runout 10 mm (0.394 in.) from the outer edge of the disc.

    Maximum disc runout:
    0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)
    If the runout is more than the maximum, change the installation position of the disc so that the runout is the smallest possible. If the runout is more than the maximum even when the installation position is changed, grind the disc. If the disc thickness is less than the minimum, replace the disc.

  1. Remove the 6 nuts and disc.
