Front Upper Suspension Arm (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) Installation

Using SST and a press, press in a new upper ball joint.

Using a snap ring expander, install a new snap ring.

NOTICE:

Make sure the snap ring is securely installed in the groove.

Pack the upper arm ball joint with MP grease No. 2.

Grease capacity:

8.0 g (0.282 oz.)

Apply MP grease No. 2 to the locations shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:

Do not apply MP grease No. 2 to the tapered or threaded parts of the ball joint.

Install a new dust cover to the upper arm.

Install a new dust cover set ring.

Using SST and a press, press in a new upper arm bush.

Temporarily install the upper arm and 2 retainers with the bolt and nut.

HINT:

Fix the nut in place and temporarily install the bolt.

Install the upper arm to the steering knuckle with the nut.

Torque:

110 N*m{1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf}

Install a new clip.

Connect the stabilizer link to the steering knuckle with the nut.

Torque:

70 N*m{714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf}

HINT:

If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud in place.

Install the 2 bolts and connect the speed sensor wire.

Torque:

32 N*m{326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf}

Install the front wheel.

Torque:

105 N*m{1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}

Lower the vehicle.

Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

Tighten the bolt of the upper arm.

Torque:

115 N*m{1173 kgf*cm, 85 ft.*lbf}

NOTICE:

Do not tighten the nut.
