  1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY

  2. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB DUST SEAL (for 4WD)

  3. INSTALL KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP LH (for Pre-Runner)

  4. CONNECT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  5. CONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  6. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  7. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

  8. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH (for 4WD)

  9. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP (for 4WD)

  10. INSTALL FRONT DISC

  11. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

  12. INSTALL SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH (w/ ABS)

  13. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Steering Knuckle (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) -- Installation


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB ASSEMBLY


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Steering Knuckle (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) Installation

  1. Apply MP grease to a new O-ring.

  1. Install the O-ring to the axle hub.

  1. Install the dust cover and axle hub to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts.

    Torque:
    80 N*m{816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf}


2. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB DUST SEAL (for 4WD)

  1. Using SST and a press, press in a new dust seal.

3. INSTALL KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP LH (for Pre-Runner)

  1. Using a brass bar and hammer, install a new retainer cap.

    NOTICE:
    Do not damage the retainer cap.


4. CONNECT FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Connect the upper arm with the nut.

    Torque:
    110 N*m{1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf}

  1. Install a new clip.

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.


5. CONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Steering Knuckle (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) Installation

  1. Connect the suspension arm with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    160 N*m{1632 kgf*cm, 118 ft.*lbf}


6. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle arm with the nut.

    Torque:
    91 N*m{928 kgf*cm, 67 ft.*lbf}

  1. Install a new cotter pin.

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.


7. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Connect the stabilizer link with the nut.

    Torque:
    70 N*m{714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf}
    HINT:
    If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.


8. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH (for 4WD)


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Steering Knuckle (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) Installation

  1. Clean the threaded parts on the drive shaft and axle shaft nut using a non-residue solvent.

  1. Install the hub nut.

    Torque:
    235 N*m{2396 kgf*cm, 173 ft.*lbf}

  1. Install the adjusting cap and a new cotter pin.

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut an additional 60°.


9. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP (for 4WD)

  1. Install a new grease cap to the axle hub.



10. INSTALL FRONT DISC

  1. Align the matchmarks and install the disc.

    HINT:
    When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.


11. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Install the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    122 N*m{1244 kgf*cm, 90 ft.*lbf}


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25.Axle And Differential.Axle System.Steering Knuckle (For 4Wd And Pre-Runner) Installation

  1. Install the brake tube bracket to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

    Torque:
    29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}


12. INSTALL SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH (w/ ABS)


Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. Install the speed sensor with the bolt.

  1. Connect the 2 clamps.

    Torque:
    8.5 N*m{87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf}

  1. Install the speed sensor wire harness to the steering knuckle with the bolt.

    Torque:
    32 N*m{326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf}


13. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque:
105 N*m{1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}
