Lubrication System -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. INSPECT OIL QUALITY

  1. Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloration or thinning.
    If the quality is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and oil filter (HILUX_TGN26 RM000003TKO01SX.html).



2. INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL

  1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes. The engine oil level should be between the dipstick low level mark and full level mark.
    If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

    NOTICE:
    Do not fill engine oil above the full level mark.


3. INSPECT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE

  1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000463L01CX.html).

  1. Install an oil pressure gauge with an adapter.

  1. Warm up the engine.

  1. Measure the engine oil pressure.

    Standard Oil Pressure:
    Condition
    		Specified Condition
    Idling
    		29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or higher
    3000 rpm
    		245 kPa (2.5 kgf/cm2, 36 psi) or higher
    If the pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump.

  1. Remove the oil pressure gauge and adapter.

  1. Install the engine oil pressure switch (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000463J01DX.html).
