Radiator Removal

  1. PRECAUTION

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  3. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR RH

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  7. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET

  9. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET

  10. DISCONNECT AIR PUMP INLET

  11. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

  12. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER INLET HOSE (for Automatic Transmission)

  13. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE (for Automatic Transmission)

  14. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

Radiator -- Removal



1. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (HILUX_TGN26 RM000004QR1006X.html).


2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
w/ Airbag System:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (HILUX_TGN26 RM000004QR300CX.html).


3. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE

4. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips.

  1. Detach the claw and remove the deflector.



5. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR RH

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips.

  1. Detach the claw and remove the deflector.



6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER


7. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  1. Remove the radiator cap.

    CAUTION:
    Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.


  1. Loosen the cylinder block drain cock plug and radiator drain cock plug to drain the coolant.

    HINT:
    Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.

8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET

  1. Disconnect the radiator hose inlet from the radiator.



9. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET

  1. Disconnect the radiator hose outlet from the radiator.



10. DISCONNECT AIR PUMP INLET

  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the air pump inlet from the radiator.



11. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

  1. Disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator.

  1. Loosen the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan.

  1. Remove the fan and generator V belt (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000YMP02DX_01_0001.html).

  1. Remove the 2 bolts holding the fan shroud.

  1. Remove the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan, and then remove the fan shroud together with the fluid coupling fan.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to damage the radiator core.

  1. Remove the fan pulley from the engine water pump.



12. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER INLET HOSE (for Automatic Transmission)

  1. Disconnect the oil cooler inlet hose from the radiator.



13. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER OUTLET HOSE (for Automatic Transmission)

  1. Disconnect the oil cooler outlet hose from the radiator.



14. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY


    Hilux. Tgn26, 36 Kun25, 26, 35, 36 Ggn25

  1. w/ Airbag System:

    1. Using a clip remover, detach the 4 clamps from the radiator as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:
      Tape the clip remover tip before use.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and radiator.
