Water Pump -- Removal |
1. PRECAUTION |
- NOTICE:
- After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (HILUX_TGN26 RM000004QR1006X.html).
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (HILUX_TGN26 RM000004QR300CX.html).

4. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH |
5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER |
6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT |
- CAUTION:
- Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.
Remove the radiator cap and drain the coolant.
- HINT:
- Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.
Loosen the cylinder block water drain cock plug and drain the coolant from the engine.
7. REMOVE V-BANK COVER |
Remove the 2 nuts and V-bank cover.

8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the vacuum hose.

Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.
Detach the 2 wire harness clamps.
Loosen the 2 hose clamps.

Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner.
9. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET |
Disconnect the radiator hose inlet from the radiator.
10. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET |
Disconnect the radiator hose outlet from the radiator.
11. REMOVE FAN SHROUD |
Remove the 3 bolts and oil reservoir.

Disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator tank upper.
Loosen the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan.
Remove the fan and generator V belt (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000YN400BX_01_0001.html).
Remove the 2 bolts holding the fan shroud.
Remove the 4 nuts of the fluid coupling fan, and then remove the shroud together with the fluid coupling fan.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the radiator core.
Remove the fan pulley from the water pump.
12. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PCV HOSE |
Disconnect the clamp and No. 2 PCV hose.

13. REMOVE WATER INLET ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 2 radiator hoses from the water inlet assembly.

Disconnect the 5 water by-pass hoses.

Remove the 5 bolts and water inlet assembly.

Remove the O-ring from the water outlet pipe.
Remove the gasket from the engine water pump.
14. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY |
w/ Idler Pulley Cover Plate:
Remove the 2 bolts, 2 idler pulley cover plates, 2 No. 2 idler pulleys and 2 No. 2 idler pulley cover plates.

Remove the 2 bolts, 2 No. 2 idler pulleys and 2 No. 2 idler pulley cover plates.
for Integrated Type:
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 No. 2 idler pulleys.
15. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY |
16. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY |

Remove the 5 bolts and V-ribbed belt tensioner.
17. REMOVE ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 17 bolts, engine water pump assembly and gasket.
