Trouble Area
Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.
Both of following conditions met for 1 second or more
(1 trip detection logic):
  1. DC motor duty ratio 100%
  2. DC motor current 0.5 A or less
  1. Open in DC motor circuit
  2. Turbo motor driver
  3. DC Motor (turbocharger sub-assembly)

Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.
DC motor current 6.5 A or more for 0.5 seconds or more
(1 trip detection logic)
  1. Short in DC motor circuit

  3. DC Motor (turbocharger sub-assembly)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY (DC MOTOR OPERATION)
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Turn the ignition switch off and check the DC motor operation (check the operation link movement).

    HINT:
    When it is necessary to repeat this inspection, wait 30 seconds or more with the ignition switch off before performing the inspection.
    OK:
    When the ignition switch is turned off, the operation link moves as shown in A to D in the illustration below and the operation link contacts the stopper bolt

  1. Measure the DC motor resistance.

    Standard resistance:
    1 to 100 Ω

3.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DC MOTOR - TURBO MOTOR DRIVER)
  1. Disconnect the DC motor connector.

  1. Disconnect the turbo motor driver connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance :

4.REPLACE TURBO MOTOR DRIVER
  1. Replace the turbo motor driver (HILUX_TGN26 RM000004QB2006X.html).

5.CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0047 AND/OR P0048)
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  1. Clear the DTCs (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000PDK0SYX.html).

  1. Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  1. Read the DTCs.

6.REPLACE TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Replace turbocharger sub-assembly (HILUX_TGN26 RM00000143U00WX.html).

7.REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
  1. Repair or replace the harness or connector.

8.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  1. Clear the DTCs (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000PDK0SYX.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly for more than 1 minute.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10 seconds or more.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Drive the vehicle with a city driving pattern at least 10 minutes.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  1. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
