DTC C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU receives signals from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor via the CAN communication system.
The yaw rate sensor has a built-in acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle's condition using 2 circuits (GL1, GL2).
If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and the CAN communication system, DTCs U0123 (malfunction in CAN communication with the yaw rate sensor) and U0124 (malfunction in CAN communication with the acceleration sensor) are set.
These DTCs are also output when calibration has not been completed.

DTC Code
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
C1436
Either of the following is detected:
  1. With the vehicle stationary, the yaw rate and acceleration sensor output value is not 0 deg/s.
  2. Abnormal comparison value.

Refer to DTCs C1232, C1243 and C1245 (YARIS_NCP93 RM000001RFV0AMX.html).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
When replacing the yaw rate and deceleration sensor, perform the zero point calibration (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000XHR06QX.html).
HINT:
When U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with C1436, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 first (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000YUO0DIX.html).
1.READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR)
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.

    NOTICE:
Check the yaw rate and acceleration sensor signal after replacement (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000XHT08IX.html).
    HINT:
If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000XHN0AXX.html).

2.CHECK YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor has been installed properly (YARIS_NCP93 RM000001BYS012X.html).

    OK:
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
