Rear Coil Spring (For Hatchback) Removal
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH (w/ ABS)
SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (w/ ABS)
SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH
SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH
LOOSEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY
SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH
REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH
REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING RH

- NOTICE:
- Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.
3. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH (w/ ABS) |
Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw of the connector lock portion and disconnect the skid control sensor wire LH connector.
- NOTICE:
- Do not remove the connector cover from the connector because the skid control sensor wire may be damaged.
Remove the nut and separate the skid control sensor wire LH.
4. SEPARATE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (w/ ABS) |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
5. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH |
Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), separate the brake tube while holding the rear flexible hose LH with a wrench.
Remove the clip and disconnect the rear flexible hose LH from the rear axle beam assembly.
6. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
7. LOOSEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY |
Loosen the 2 bolts.

- NOTICE:
- Do not remove the bolts.
8. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH |
Support the rear axle beam assembly using a jack and wooden block as shown in the illustration.
Remove the bolt while keeping the nut from rotating and separate the rear shock absorber assembly LH.
- NOTICE:
- Remove the nut from the bolt side because the one on the lower side is a jam nut.
9. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
10. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH |
Lower the jack slowly.
Remove the rear coil spring LH, rear coil spring upper insulator LH and rear coil spring lower insulator LH.
11. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
