Park / Neutral Position Switch (For Hatchback) -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Apply the parking brake and turn the ignition switch ON.

  1. Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is in N or P, but does not start in the other positions.

  1. Check that the back-up lights illuminate when the shift lever is in R, and that they do not illuminate with the shift lever in the other positions.
    If a malfunction failure is found, check the park/neutral position switch assembly for continuity.
