Back Window Glass -- Removal |
1. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH |
Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
2. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH |
Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
3. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
4. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
5. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER |
6. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY LH |
7. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY RH |
8. REMOVE REAR SEAT CENTER HEADREST ASSEMBLY |
9. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY |
Detach the 2 front hooks of the seat cushion from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Follow the instructions below carefully as the cushion frame deforms easily.
Choose a hook to detach first. Place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration. Then lift the seat cushion to detach the hook.
Repeat the above procedure for the other hook.
Detach the rear hook of the seat cushion from the seatback.
Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.
10. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH |
Using a clip remover, remove the 2 rear seat back clips.
Fold the rear seatback assembly LH forward.
Remove the 2 bolts and the rear seatback assembly LH.
11. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH |
Using a clip remover, remove the 2 rear seat back clips.
Fold the rear seatback assembly RH forward.
Remove the 2 bolts and the rear seatback assembly RH.
12. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH |
Disengage the 2 claws, 2 clips and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.
13. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH BOARD LH |
Disengage the 2 claws and 2 guides, and remove the roof side inner garnish board LH.
14. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY LH |
Disengage the 4 clips and 2 guides, and remove the roof side inner garnish assembly LH.
15. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
16. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH BOARD RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
17. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH ASSEMBLY RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
18. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws.
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.
- HINT:
- Gently pry on the assist grip covers as shown in the illustration to remove them.
Pull off the 2 assist grip covers by hand.
Disengage the 2 clips and remove the assist grip sub-assembly.
Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the other 3 assist grips.
19. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY |
Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the lens cover.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Disengage the claw and guide in the order shown in the illustration, and remove the room light cover.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.
Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws <A> as shown in the illustration.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Disengage the 2 claws <B>.
Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the No. 1 room light assembly.
20. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM BELT HOLE COVER |
Disengage the 4 claws and remove the package tray trim belt hole cover.
21. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear Spoiler) |
Disconnect the connector.
Disengage the 3 clips and the 5 claws.
Pull out the belts from the slits and then remove the package tray trim panel assembly.
22. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Spoiler) |
Disengage the 3 clips and the 5 claws.
Pull out the belts from the slits and then remove the package tray trim panel assembly.
23. REMOVE SUN ROOF OPENING TRIM MOULDING (w/ Sliding Roof) |
Remove the sun roof opening trim moulding.
24. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof) |
It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining assembly. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining assembly so that the back window glass can be removed.
25. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW MOULDING |
Using a knife, cut off the moulding as shown in the illustration.
- CAUTION:
- Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
- If the vehicle body is damaged, repair the damaged portion by applying an anti-rust coating after removing the back window glass.
Remove the remaining moulding from the back window glass.
- HINT:
- When removing the moulding, make a partial cut, then pull and remove it by hand.
26. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS |
Disconnect the connector from the rear pillar LH.
Disconnect the connectors.
Disengage the clamp.
Remove the bolt and disconnect the amplifier antenna assembly from the rear pillar RH.
Apply protective tape to the installation position of the back window glass assembly on the vehicle body.
- HINT:
- Apply protective tape to the installation surface to prevent it from being scratched.
Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and back window glass assembly from the interior.
Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass assembly.
- NOTICE:
- When separating the back window glass assembly from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or the interior exterior ornaments.
- To prevent the package tray from being scratched when removing the back window glass assembly, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and package tray.
- There are stoppers on the back window glass assembly as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the back window glass when cutting off the adhesive.
Place matchmarks on the back window glass assembly and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.
- HINT:
- Matchmarks do not need if the back window glass assembly is not going to be reused.
Disconnect the back window glass stoppers.
- NOTICE:
- To prevent the back window glass assembly from dropping when performing this operation, be sure to hold the back window glass assembly using suction cups.
- HINT:
- Depending on vehicles, a 1-piece or 2-piece type stopper is used.
Using a suction cup, remove the back window glass assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to drop the back window glass assembly.
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back window glass assembly.
27. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM |
Using a scraper, remove the back window glass adhesive dam.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the back window glass.
- Be sure to replace the back window glass adhesive dam with a new one.
28. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER |
Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 2 back window glass stoppers.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the back window glass.
- Be sure to replace the 2 No. 2 back window glass stoppers with new ones.
29. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type) |
Remove the 2 No. 1 back window glass stoppers.
- NOTICE:
- Be sure to replace the 2 No. 1 back window glass stoppers with new ones.
30. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS |
Using a scraper, remove the adhesive tape and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the back window glass.
Clean the outer circumference of the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.
- NOTICE:
- Do not touch it surface after cleaning it.
- Even if using a new back window glass, clean the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.
Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
- HINT:
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.
Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.
- HINT:
- Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
