Condenser -- Removal |
| 1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM |
Start up the engine.
Turn the A/C switch on.
Operate the cooler compressor at an engine speed of approximately 1000 rpm for 5 to 6 minutes to circulate the refrigerant. This causes most of the compressor oil from the various components of the A/C system to collect in the A/C compressor.
Stop the engine.
Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system using a refrigerant recovery unit.
| 2. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE PROTECTOR |
Remove the 2 radiator grille protectors.

| 3. REMOVE NO. 4 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2AZ-FE) |
Remove the 4 screws, 4 clips and No. 4 engine under cover.
 |
| 4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE) |
Using a screwdriver, turn the pin 90 degrees and remove the pin hold clip.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
 |
Put protective tape around the front bumper assembly.

Remove the 2 screws, 2 bolts and 7 clips.
Disengage the 6 claws and remove the front bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.
 |
Disconnect the 2 fog light connectors.
| 5. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE) |
Using a screwdriver, turn the pin 90 degrees and remove the pin hold clip.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

Put protective tape around the front bumper assembly.

Remove the 4 screws, 2 bolts and 7 clips.
Disengage the 6 claws and remove the front bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.

w/ Fog Light:
Disconnect the 2 fog light connectors.
| 6. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly from the condenser.
 |
Remove the O-ring from the discharge hose sub-assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
| 7. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE ASSEMBLY |
Remove the bolt and disconnect the air conditioning tube assembly from the condenser.

Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
| 8. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT (for 2ZR-FE) |
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 upper radiator supports.

Remove the 2 support cushions from the 2 upper radiator supports.
| 9. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT (for 2AZ-FE) |
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 upper radiator supports.
 |
Remove the 2 support cushions from the 2 upper radiator supports.
| 10. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 3 bolts from the hood lock assembly.
 |
Disconnect the hood lock control cable and remove the hood lock assembly.
 |
| 11. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE (for 2ZR-FE) |
Separate the water by-pass hose from the 3 clamps.
 |
Disconnect the water by-pass hose from the radiator assembly.
| 12. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE (for 2AZ-FE) |
Separate the water by-pass hose from the 2 clamps.
 |
Disconnect the water by-pass hose from the radiator assembly.
| 13. REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE) |
Remove the 2 bolts and hood lock support sub-assembly.
 |
| 14. REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE) |
Remove the 2 bolts and hood lock support sub-assembly.

| 15. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE) |
Disconnect the horn connector.
 |
Remove the 4 bolts and upper radiator support sub-assembly.
 |
| 16. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE) |
Disconnect the horn connector.

Remove the 4 bolts and upper radiator support sub-assembly.
 |
| 17. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD (for 2ZR-FE) |
Remove the 2 bolts, disengage the 2 claws, and remove the No. 2 fan shroud from the radiator assembly.
 |
| 18. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD (for 2AZ-FE) |
Remove the 2 bolts, disengage the 2 claws, and remove the No. 2 fan shroud from the radiator assembly.
 |
| 19. REMOVE CONDENSER ASSEMBLY WITH RECEIVER |
Remove the condenser assembly with receiver as shown in the illustration.
