REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD GUIDE PIN
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING

Rear Brake (For Disc Type) -- Removal |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
- The following procedure listed is for the LH side.
1. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH |
Disengage the 3 claws and clip, and then remove the lower instrument panel finish panel LH.
2. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL RH |
Disengage the 3 claws and clip, and then remove the lower instrument panel finish panel RH.
3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) |
Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) |
Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
5. REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) |
Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips.
Disengage the guide and remove the center No.1 instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
6. REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) |
Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips.
Disengage the guide and remove the center No.1 instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
7. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 clips and 2 guides, and remove the upper console panel sub-assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.
10. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE |
Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nu to completely release the parking brake cable.
11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR |
Remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
12. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY |
Disengage the clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
Remove the bolt.
Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
- HINT:
- Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
13. SEPARATE REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE |
Remove the union bolt and gasket, and separate the rear brake flexible hose from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
14. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY |
Hold the rear disc brake slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
15. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD |
Remove the 2 disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
16. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM |
Remove the 4 anti-squeal shims from each brake pad.
17. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE |
Remove the rear disc brake pad support plate (upper) and rear disc brake pad support plate (lower) from the disc brake cylinder mounting.
- NOTICE:
- Each rear disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each rear disc brake pad support plate so that it can be installed to its original position.
18. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD GUIDE PIN |
Remove the 2 rear disc brake pad guide pins from the disc brake cylinder mounting.
19. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT |
Remove the 2 rear disc brake bushing dust boots from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
20. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING |
Remove the 2 bolts and the rear disc brake cylinder mounting from the axle beam.
Remove the rear disc.
- HINT:
- Place matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.
