INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL
INSTALL NO. 2 TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL
INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
INSPECT TRANSAXLE FLUID LEVEL
INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
Differential Oil Seal -- Replacement |
1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH |
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH |
3. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID |
Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain ATF.
Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
- Torque:
- 49 N*m{500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf}

5. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL |
Using SST, remove the No. 1 transaxle case oil seal from the transaxle case.

6. REMOVE NO. 2 TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL |
Using SST, remove the No. 2 transaxle case oil seal from the transaxle housing.

7. INSTALL NO. 1 TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL |
Using SST and a hammer, install a new oil seal to the transaxle case.

- Standard depth:
- -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)
- NOTICE:
- Do not damage the oil seal lip.
Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.
8. INSTALL NO. 2 TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL |
Using SST and a hammer, install a new oil seal to the transaxle housing.

- Standard depth:
- 2.2 to 3.2 mm (0.0866 to 0.126 in.)
- NOTICE:
- Do not damage the oil seal lip.
Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.

10. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID |
11. INSPECT TRANSAXLE FLUID LEVEL |
- HINT:
- Drive the vehicle so that the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature.
- Fluid temperature:
- 70 to 80°C (158 to 176°F)
Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, move the shift lever to all positions from P to L. Then return it to P.
Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean.
Push the dipstick back fully into the pipe.
Pull the dipstick out again and check that the fluid level is within the HOT range. If the fluid level is below the HOT range, add new fluid and recheck the fluid level. If the fluid level exceeds the HOT range, drain the fluid once, add a proper amount of new fluid and recheck the fluid level.
