  P0607 Control Module Performance

  1. Stop the engine for 30 minutes or more [A].
  2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [B].
  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
  5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on [C].
  7. Start the engine and wait 2 minutes [D].
  8. Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher [E].
  9. Idle the engine for 1 minute [F].
  10. Accelerate the vehicle to 80 km/h (50 mph) and stop the vehicle [G].
    CAUTION:
When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.
  11. Drive the vehicle at 56 to 80 km/h (35 to 50 mph) for 5 minutes or more [H].
    CAUTION:
When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes [I].
  13. Read the pending DTCs.
    HINT:
    1. If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    2. If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
  15. Input the DTC: P0607, P0136, P0137 or P0138.
  16. Check the DTC judgment result.

    Techstream Display
    Description
    NORMAL
    1. DTC judgment completed
    2. System normal
    ABNORMAL
    1. DTC judgment completed
    2. System abnormal
    INCOMPLETE
    1. DTC judgment not completed
    2. Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions
    N/A
    1. Unable to perform DTC judgment
    2. Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit
    HINT:
    1. If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
    2. If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
    3. If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [E] through [I] again.
  17. If no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000PDK0ZBX.html).
    HINT:
    1. If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    2. If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT
  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Turn the Techstream on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  1. Read the DTCs (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000PDK0ZBX.html).

2.INSPECT DTC (P0136, P0137 OR P0138)
  1. Inspect the P0136, P0137 or P0138 flowchart.

    HINT:
    1. If P0136 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000WBY0H0X.html). Then proceed to "INSPECT ECM".
    2. If P0137 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000WBY0H0X.html). Then proceed to "INSPECT ECM".
    3. If P0138 is output, troubleshoot for that DTC first (COROLLA_ZRE142 RM000000WBY0H0X.html). Then proceed to "INSPECT ECM".
    4. If DTC P0607 and P0136, P0137 or P0138 are output, the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor may remain close to 0 V or become high (around 1 V or more).

3.CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
  1. Allow the engine to idle and rev the engine.

  1. Check for exhaust gas leaks around the heated oxygen sensor.
If any exhaust gas leaks are present, repair it and proceed to "PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN". If no exhaust gas leaks are present, proceed to "PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN".

    HINT:
    1. If no exhaust gas leaks are present, a malfunction in the heated oxygen sensor circuit is suspected.
    2. If any exhaust gas leaks are present around the heated oxygen sensor, noise appears in the output voltage of the heated oxygen sensor.
