1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Check the front wiper switch.

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance:
      Front wiper switch (Except Hong Kong, India and LHD):
      Tester Connection
      		Switch Connection
      		Specified Condition
      E20-3 (+1) - E20-2 (+B)
      		MIST
      		Below 1 Ω
      LO
      E20-3 (+1) - E20-1 (+S)
      		OFF
      E20-9 (AUTO) - E20-10 (E)
      		AUTO
      E20-2 (+B) - E20-4 (+2)
      		HI
      Front wiper switch (Hong Kong, India):
      Tester Connection
      		Switch Condition
      		Specified Condition

      E20-2 (+1) - E20-4 (+S)
      		OFF

      Front washer switch (Hong Kong, India):

      Adjusting Ring (Except Hong Kong, India and LHD):
      Tester Connection
      		Switch Condition
      		Specified Condition
      E20-7 (VR1) - E20-8 (VR2)
      		Adjusting ring changed from (+) side to (-) side
      		0 to 2.7 kΩ
      Adjusting Ring (Hong Kong, India):
      Tester Connection
      		Switch Condition
      		Specified Condition
      E20-7 (VR2) - E20-8 (VR1)
      		Adjusting ring changed from (+) side to (-) side
      		0 to 2.7 kΩ
      If the result is not specified, replace the switch assembly.


  1. Check the front washer operation.

    1. Turn the wiper switch OFF.

    2. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E20-2 (+B) and the negative (-) lead to terminals E20-4 (+S) and E19-2 (EW).

    3. Connect the volt meter's positive (+) lead to E20-3 (+1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E19-2(EW).



    4. Turn the washer switch ON and OFF, and check the voltage between terminals E20-3 (+1) and E19-2 (EW).

      OK:
      Refer to the illustration below.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
