WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM - Speed Signal Circuit


DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper relay assembly (auto wiper relay) receives a vehicle speed signal from a combination meter to control an automatic windshield wiper system.
A voltage of 12 V or 5 V is output from the combination meter assembly and then input to the skid control ECU.
A voltage of 12 V or 5 V is output from each ECU or relay and then input to the combination meter assembly.
The signal is changed to a pulse signal at the transistor in the combination meter assembly.
Each ECU controls the respective system based on the pulse signal.
If a short occurs in any of the ECUs or in the wire harness connected to an ECU, all systems in the diagram below will not operate normally.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK COMBINATION METER SYSTEM

  1. The circuits that send vehicle speed signals to this system are inspected in the meter system (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000002UD700KX.html).

  1. During inspection for the meter section, if there is an instruction that indicates to go back inspections for each system, proceed to the next step.

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER)

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper relay assembly connectors E26 and combination meter connector F2.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    E26-19 (SPD) - F2-12 (+S)
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω

PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

3.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY - NO. 3 J/B)

  1. Disconnect the 3J No. 3 J/B connector.



  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
