Theft Deterrent System (W/ Entry And Start System) -- System Description |
OUTLINE OF THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM |
- The theft deterrent system can be set by locking the doors using the transmitter.
- The alarm function will activate when someone attempts forcibly to unlock any of the doors or open any of the doors, engine hood and luggage door while the system is in the armed state.
- In the alarm sounding state, the system blinks the hazard warning lights. At the same time, the system sounds the vehicle horns and security horn to deter break-in and theft as well as to warn people around the vehicle.
- The theft deterrent system has active arming mode. There are 4 states; a disarmed state, an arming preparation state, an armed state and an alarm sounding state.
Disarmed state:
- The alarm function is not operating.
- The theft deterrent system is not operating.
- The alarm function is not operating.
Arming preparation state:
- The time until the system goes into the armed state.
- The theft deterrent system is not operating.

ACTIVE ARMING MODE |
- HINT:
- Active arming mode starts the alarm control immediately after the doors are locked.
Active arming mode:
This system activates as described in the diagram below when one of the items for each condition is met.- HINT:
- *1: Disarmed state 1 is the normal disarmed state.
- *2: Disarmed state 2 is set from either the disarmed state 1 or the arming preparation state.
Condition Item Condition (1) In the disarmed state 1, when the key is not in the actuation area, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:
With all doors, engine hood and luggage compartment door closed, lock all doors by wireless operation or entry and start system.Condition (2) After condition (1) is met, allow approx. 30 seconds to elapse. Condition (3) - Unlock any door by wireless operation or entry and start system.
- Open any door.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG or ACC).
- Reconnect the battery.
Condition (4) - Open the engine hood.
- Open the luggage compartment door.
- Reconnect the battery.
- Open any door when all doors are closed.
- Unlock any door when all doors are locked.
- Turn the engine switch off. After 5 seconds or more have elapsed, turn the engine switch on (IG).
Condition (5) - Unlock all doors by wireless operation or entry and start system.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG) and run the engine for more than 2 seconds.
- Turn the engine switch on (ACC or IG) within 2 seconds after turning it off.
Condition (6) After approx. 27.5 seconds, the alarm stops and 5 seconds later the system returns to the armed state. Condition (7) Open the luggage compartment door by wireless operation. Condition (8) - Close the engine hood when the luggage compartment door is closed.
- Close the luggage compartment door when the engine hood is closed.
Condition (9) - Unlock any door when all doors are locked.
- Open any door.
- Turn the engine switch from off to on (IG or ACC).
- Reconnect the battery.
- Unlock any door by wireless operation or entry and start system.
Condition (10) In the disarmed state 1, when the key is not in the actuation area, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:
With all doors closed, and the engine hood or luggage compartment door is opened, lock all doors by wireless operation or entry and start system.Condition (11) With engine hood or luggage compartment door opened, open the luggage compartment door by wireless operation.
FORCED DOOR LOCK CONTROL |
The forced door lock control prevents the vehicle from being tampered with. Immediately after a door is unlocked (alarm starts), the door is forced to lock by a forced door lock signal.
Conditions that force the doors to lock:
When the key is not in the actuation area and both of the following conditions are met:- The theft deterrent system is in the alarm sounding state of active arming mode.
- Any door is unlocked.
- HINT:
- Forced door lock control does not operate if any door is unlocked by key operation.
- The theft deterrent system is in the alarm sounding state of active arming mode.
SECURITY INDICATOR OUTPUT |
The certification ECU outputs a signal to come on the security indicator, according to the state of the theft deterrent system. However, some of the actual lighting conditions of the security indicator are different from the output signals of the certification ECU.
Output: State of Theft Deterrent System Security Indicator Output Signals from Certification ECU Actual Lighting Condition Disarmed state 1, 2 OFF OFF (Immobiliser system unset)

- When the immobiliser system is set, the security indicator blinks during both the disarmed state and the armed state due to the output signals from the immobiliser system.
