Rear Door Speaker Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL LH

  3. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  4. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

Rear Door Speaker -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below are for the LH side.


1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.


2. REMOVE REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL LH

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the clip, 5 claws, and remove the panel (with switch).

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Disconnect the switch connectors.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the power window regulator switch from the panel.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    NOTICE:
    Be careful when detaching the claws as the switch may fall and become damaged.


3. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 12 claws and remove the door assist grip cover.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the door inside handle bezel plug.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the 3 screws.

  1. for 8 Clip Type:
    Using a screwdriver, detach the 8 clips, 2 claws and remove the trim.

    HINT:
    1. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. If the screwdriver cannot reach the clips, pull on the lower trim to remove it.

  1. for 7 Clip Type:
    Using a screwdriver, detach the 7 clips, 2 claws and remove the trim.

    HINT:
    1. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
    2. If the screwdriver cannot reach the clips, pull on the lower trim to remove it.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 6 claws and remove the weatherstrip inner.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


4. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the connector.

  1. Using a drill bit with a diameter of less than 4 mm (0.157 in.), drill out the 3 rivet heads and remove the speaker.

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not drill the rivet at an angle as this will cause damage to the drill and drill hole. Line up the drill and rivet, and carefully drill out the rivet head.
    2. Be careful as the cut rivet will be very hot.

  1. Continue drilling and push out the remaining rivet fragments.

  1. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the inside of the door.
