1. INSPECT WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH ASSEMBLY |
Check the front wiper switch.
Measure the resistance of the switch.
- Standard resistance:
LH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E13-4 (+S) - E13-2 (+1) INT Below 1 Ω OFF E13-3 (B) - E13-2 (+1) MIST LO E13-3 (B) - E13-1 (+2) HI RH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E13-1 (+S) - E13-3 (+1) INT Below 1 Ω OFF E13-2 (B) - E13-3 (+1) MIST LO E13-2 (B) - E13-4 (+2) HI E13-9 (AUTO) - E13-10 (E)*1 AUTO
If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
Check the front washer switch.
Measure the resistance of the switch.
- Standard resistance:
LH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E12-2 (EW) - E12-31 (WF) ON Below 1 Ω OFF 10 kΩ or higher RH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E12-2 (EW) - E12-3 (WF) ON Below 1 Ω OFF 10 kΩ or higher
Check the intermittent operation. (LH wiper lever type)
Connect the voltmeter's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-2 (+1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E12-2 (EW).
Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-2 (+B) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E12-2 (EW) and E13-4 (+S).
Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.
Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-4 (+S) for 5 seconds.
Connect the battery's negative (-) lead to terminal E13-4 (+S). Operate the intermittent wiper relay and check the voltage between terminals E13-2 (+1) and E12-2 (EW).
- Standard voltage:
- Refer to the illustration below.
If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
Check the intermittent operation. (RH wiper lever type)
Connect the voltmeter's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-3 (+1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E12-2 (EW).
Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-2 (+B) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E12-2 (EW) and E13-1 (+S).
Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.
Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-1 (+S) for 5 seconds.
Connect the battery's negative (-) lead to terminal E13-1 (+S). Operate the intermittent wiper relay and check the voltage between terminals E13-3 (+1) and E12-2 (EW).
- Standard voltage:
- Refer to the illustration below.
If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
Check the front washer operation. (LH wiper lever type)
Turn the wiper switch OFF.
Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-4 (+B) and the negative (-) lead to terminals E13-1 (+S) and E12-2 (EW).
Connect the voltmeter's positive (+) lead to E13-2 (+1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E12-2 (EW).
Turn the washer switch ON and OFF, and check the voltage between terminals E13-2 (+1) and E12-2 (EW).
- OK:
- Refer to the illustration below.
If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
Check the front washer operation. (RH wiper lever type)
Turn the wiper switch OFF.
Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal E13-2 (+B) and the negative (-) lead to terminals E13-4 (+S) and E12-2 (EW).
Connect the voltmeter's positive (+) lead to E13-3 (+1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal E12-2 (EW).
Turn the washer switch ON and OFF, and check the voltage between terminals E13-3 (+1) and E12-2 (EW).
- OK:
- Refer to the illustration below.
If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
Check the rear wiper switch.
Measure the resistance of the switch.
- Standard resistance:
LH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E12-2 (EW) - E12-5 (CIR) INT Below 1 Ω E12-2 (EW) - E12-4 (+1R) ON E12-2 (EW) - E12-5 (CIR) OFF 10 kΩ or higher E12-2 (EW) - E12-4 (+1R) RH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E12-2 (EW) - E12-6 (CIR) INT Below 1 Ω E12-2 (EW) - E12-7 (+1R) ON E12-2 (EW) - E12-6 (CIR) OFF 10 kΩ or higher E12-2 (EW) - E12-7 (+1R)
Check the rear washer switch.
Measure the resistance of the switch.
- Standard resistance:
LH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E12-2 (EW) - E12-4 (+1R)
E12-2 (EW) - E13-10 (WR)ON Below 1 Ω OFF 10 kΩ or higher RH wiper lever type Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E12-2 (EW) - E12-7 (+1R)
E12-2 (EW) - E13-5 (WR)ON Below 1 Ω OFF 10 kΩ or higher
