INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Seatback Board)
INSPECT AND ADJUST SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER LOCKS (for Manual Seat)
INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET OUTER COVER LH (for Manual Seat)
INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET INNER COVER LH (for Manual Seat)
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Manual Seat)
Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly -- Installation |
| 1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY |
- CAUTION:
- The nuts must not be reused.
- Make sure that the seat frame assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
Install the front seat side airbag assembly with 2 new nuts.
- Torque:
- 5.5 N*m{56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf}

Engage the 2 clamps to connect the wire harness.
Engage the 5 clamps to connect the wire harness.
 |
| 2. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER (for Manual Seat) |
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, avoid wrinkling the cover.
Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with 11 new hog rings.
Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the front seat frame (w/ adjuster).
w/ Front Seat Side Airbag:
Fully cover the airbag with the 2 seatback cover brackets and install the nut.- Torque:
- 5.5 N*m{56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf}
- CAUTION:
- For vehicles with side airbags, the seatback cover must be securely installed. Otherwise, the side airbags may not deploy properly.
- Make sure that the strap is not twisted after installing the bracket.
- Install the bracket securely.

Attach the 4 claws to install the 2 front seat headrest supports.
 |
w/ Seatback Board:
Attach the hooks.
 |
w/ Seatback Board:
Using hog ring pliers, install 5 new hog rings.
w/o Seatback Board:
Using hog ring pliers, install 3 new hog rings.
 |
w/o Seatback Board:
Close the 2 zippers.
 |
| 3. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER (for Power Seat) |
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, avoid wrinkling the cover.
Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with 11 new hog rings.
Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the front seat frame assembly (w/ adjuster).
w/ Front Seat Side Airbag:
Fully cover the airbag with the 2 seatback cover brackets and install the nut.- Torque:
- 5.5 N*m{56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf}
- CAUTION:
- For vehicles with side airbags, the seatback cover must be securely installed. Otherwise, the side airbags may not deploy properly.
- Make sure that the strap is not twisted after installing the bracket.
- Install the bracket securely.

Attach the 4 claws to install the 2 headrest supports.

Attach the hooks.

Using hog ring pliers, install 5 new hog rings.

| 5. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat) |
Place the seat in the cabin.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
Connect the connector under the seat.
Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the rearmost position.
Install the 2 bolts to the front side of the seat.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
- HINT:
- Tighten the bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the foremost position.
Install the 2 bolts to the rear side of the seat.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
- HINT:
- Tighten the bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

| 6. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat) |
Place the seat in the cabin.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
Connect the connectors under the seat.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the rearmost position.

Install the 2 bolts to the front side of the seat.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
- HINT:
- Tighten the 2 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.
Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the foremost position.
 |
Install the 2 bolts to the rear side of the seat.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
- HINT:
- Tighten the 2 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.
Install the front seat track bracket outer cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration and attach the 2 claws.

Install the front seat track bracket inner cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration and attach the 2 claws.
 |
| 7. INSPECT AND ADJUST SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER LOCKS (for Manual Seat) |
During sliding operation of the front seat, check that the left and right adjusters move together smoothly and lock simultaneously.
If the seat adjusters do not lock simultaneously, loosen the seat fixation bolts to adjust the adjuster's position.
| 8. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET OUTER COVER LH (for Manual Seat) |
Install the outer cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration and attach the 2 claws.

| 9. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET INNER COVER LH (for Manual Seat) |
Install the inner cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration and attach the 2 claws.
 |
| 10. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY |
| 11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Manual Seat) |
| 12. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT |
Check the SRS warning light (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000XFD06JX.html).
| 13. INSPECT FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat) |
w/ Seat Heater System:
Check the seat heater operation.Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
Push the seat heater switch ON.
Wait 5 minutes or more and confirm that the seat surface becomes warm.
| 14. INSPECT FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat) |
Check the power seat operation.
w/ Seat Heater System:
Check the seat heater operation.Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
Push the seat heater switch ON.
Wait 5 minutes or more and confirm that the seat surface becomes warm.
