1.IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

HINT:
The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

2.PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
Performing reset memory will clear the learned values of both the yaw rate sensor assembly*1 or deceleration sensor*2 (deceleration sensor 0 point calibration) and CVT oil pressure (CVT oil pressure calibration). Make sure to perform reset memory, yaw rate sensor assembly*1 or deceleration sensor*2 0 point calibration and CVT oil pressure calibration when replacing any of the parts shown in the following table (RAV4_ACA30 RM000003UQR002X.html).

  2. ECM
  3. Oil pressure sensor
  4. Yaw rate sensor assembly (w/ VSC)
  5. Deceleration sensor (w/o VSC)
  6. Brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU)

CAUTION:
When using compressed air, always aim away from yourself to prevent CVT fluid or kerosene from spraying on your face.
NOTICE:
  1. Clean any sand, dirt or other matter off of the transaxle before removal and disassembly in order to prevent contamination of the inside components.
  2. Do not tilt the oil-pan side of the transaxle up until the oil pan is removed to prevent foreign matter from contaminating the inside of the valve body.
  3. When disassembling light alloy parts such as the case, do not pry them with a screwdriver or similar tool. Instead, tap the parts with a plastic-faced hammer to separate them.
  4. Do not wear cloth gloves or use cloth to handle parts during removal, disassembly, or installation of the transaxle. Instead, wear synthetic gloves to prevent cloth fiber from entering the transaxle.
  5. Disassembled parts should be arranged in order and care should be taken to prevent dust contamination.
  6. Before reassembly, all parts should be cleaned, dried, and coated with Toyota genuine CVT Fluid TC. However, do not use alkaline cleaners to clean aluminum and rubber components. Also, rubber components such as O-rings, gaskets and oil seals should never be cleaned with solvents or gasoline under any circumstances.
  7. Apply Toyota genuine CVT Fluid TC to all sliding surfaces and rotating parts.
  8. Before installing O-rings and oil seal rings, coat them with Toyota genuine CVT Fluid TC and be sure to not damage them.
  9. Do not clamp components in a vise without the use of protective aluminum plates.
  10. Be careful to not damage the mating surfaces of components, because damage to these surfaces can cause oil leaks.
  11. Before applying sealant, remove all of the old sealant and thoroughly clean the surfaces with non-residue solvent.
  12. Use of Toyota genuine CVT fluid TC is recommended.
