Tilt And Telescopic Manual Switch -- Removal


CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (LandCruiser RM000000KT10NVX.html).
HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.
  2. The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  1. Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter (LandCruiser RM000004KI4013X.html).

    NOTICE:
    Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.
    HINT:
    Performing the above operation causes the auto tilt away function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

  1. Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTICE:
    1. After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (LandCruiser RM000003YMD00TX.html).
    2. When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (LandCruiser RM000003YMF011X.html).


3. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN LOWER COVER


    Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser Prado. Grj150 Trj150,155 Kdj150,155 Lj150, Gdj150,155

  1. Remove the 3 screws.

  1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the steering column lower cover.

    NOTICE:
    Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.


4. REMOVE TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH

  1. Disconnect the connector.

  1. Detach the claw and pull out the tilt and telescopic switch.

    NOTICE:
    Pushing on the claw too hard will break the claw.
