Vane Pump (For 1Kd-Ftv) -- Installation |
1. INSTALL VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY |
Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the vane pump.
Install the pump with the 2 nuts.
- Torque:
- 39 N*m{398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf}
2. INSTALL NO. 1 OIL RESERVOIR TO PUMP HOSE |
Install the oil reservoir to pump hose with the clamp.
- HINT:
- Install the pump side of the hose so that the paint mark faces the front of the vehicle. Align the paint mark on the reservoir tank side of the hose to the tank port rib.
- Make sure the claws of the clamp on the pump side face the front of the vehicle. Also make sure the claws of the clamp claw on the reservoir tank side face the top of the vehicle.
3. INSTALL PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY |
Install a new gasket to the pressure feed tube.
Connect the pressure feed tube and install the union bolt.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
- HINT:
- Make sure the stopper of the pressure feed tube touches the vane pump.
Connect the 2 connectors.
4. INSTALL ENGINE REAR UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY |
Install the rear engine under cover with the 4 bolts.
- Torque:
- 29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}
5. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Install the No. 1 engine under cover with the 4 bolts.
- Torque:
- 29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}
6. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER LOWER COVER |
Install the lower front bumper cover with the clip and 5 bolts.
- Torque:
- 8.0 N*m{82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf}
7. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH |
Attach the 5 clips install the apron seal.
8. INSTALL NO. 1 FRONT FENDER APRON TO FRAME SEAL LH |
Attach the 5 clips install the apron seal.
9. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL LH |
- Torque:
- for steel wheel:
- 112 N*m{1137 kgf*cm, 82 ft.*lbf}
- for aluminum wheel:
- 103 N*m{1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf}
10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
11. ADD POWER STEERING FLUID |
12. BLEED AIR FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM |
Check the fluid level.
Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with stands.
Turn the steering wheel.
With the engine stopped, turn the wheel slowly from lock to lock several times.
Lower the vehicle.
Start the engine.
Run the engine at idle for a few minutes.
Turn the steering wheel.
With the engine idling, turn the wheel to the left or right full lock position and keep it there for 2 to 3 seconds, and then turn the wheel to the opposite full lock position and keep it there for 2 to 3 seconds.*1
Repeat *1 several times.
Stop the engine.
Check for foaming or emulsification.
If the system has to be bled twice specifically because of foaming or emulsification, check for fluid leaks in the power steering system.Text in Illustration *a CORRECT *b INCORRECT
