INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- Inspect the fuses of circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
- After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (LandCruiser RM0000012XK0AVX.html) and initialization (LandCruiser RM000000TIN08IX.html).
- HINT:
- Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (ACTIVATE THE VSV FOR SWIRL CONTROL VALVE) |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve).
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Activate the VSV for Swirl Control Valve.
Check the vacuum switching valve (for swirl control valve) operation when it is operated using the GTS.

Reconnect the vacuum hoses.
2.INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (FOR SWIRL CONTROL VALVE) (RESISTANCE) |
Inspect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve) (LandCruiser RM000005UI3000X_01_0002.html).
3.INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (FOR SWIRL CONTROL VALVE) (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE) |
Disconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve) connector.
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Reconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve) connector.

Disconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve) connector.
Disconnect the ECM connector.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Reconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve) connector.
Reconnect the ECM connector.
Replace the ECM (LandCruiser RM0000013Z002DX.html).
6.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (FOR SWIRL CONTROL VALVE) - NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY) |
Remove the No. 1 integration relay from the engine room relay block.
Disconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for swirl control valve) connector.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Reinstall the No. 1 integration relay.

7.INSPECT NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY (EFI MAIN 2) |
Inspect the No. 1 Integration relay (EFI MAIN2) (LandCruiser RM00000469101AX_01_0006.html).
8.INSPECT ECM POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT |
Check the ECM power source circuit (LandCruiser RM000000TI20ANX.html).
9.REPLACE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (FOR SWIRL CONTROL VALVE) |
Replace the vacuum switching valve (for swirl control valve) (LandCruiser RM000005UI5000X.html).
10.REPLACE NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY |
11.REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR |
Repair or replace harness or connector.
12.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1ENX.html).
Start the engine and wait for 2 seconds or more.
Race the engine for 1 second.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
