CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM - Clutch Switch Circuit


DESCRIPTION

When the clutch pedal is released, the ECM receives positive (+) battery voltage through the ECU-IG & GAUGE fuse. While depressing the clutch pedal, the clutch switch sends a signal to terminal 10(CLSW) of the ECM. The ECM cancels cruise control when terminal 10(CLSW) receives the signal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG & GAUGE)
  1. Remove the ECU-IG & GAUGE fuse from the driver side junction block.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    ECU-IG & GAUGE fuse
    Always
    Below 1 Ω


NG
REPLACE FUSE
OK


2.INSPECT ECM

  1. Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Switch Condition
    Specified Condition
    E5-10 (CLSW) - Body ground
    Ignition switch ON
    Clutch pedal depressed
    Below 1 V
    Ignition switch ON
    Clutch pedal released
    11 to 14 V


NG
Go to step 3
OK

PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

3.INSPECT CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the clutch switch.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Switch Condition
    Specified Condition
    1 - 2
    Pin pushed
    Below 1 Ω
    Pin not pushed
    10 kΩ or higher


NG
REPLACE CLUTCH SWITCH ASSEMBLY

4.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - CLUTCH SWITCH)

  1. Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.

  1. Disconnect the C22 clutch switch connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Always
    Below 1 Ω
    E5-10 (CLSW) - Body ground
    Always
    10 kΩ or higher
