DTC B1615/14 Front Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction


SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The front airbag sensor LH consists of the diagnostic circuit and front deceleration sensor. The center airbag sensor receives signals from the front deceleration sensor, and determines whether or not the SRS should be activated. DTC B1615/14 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front airbag sensor LH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK FOR DTC

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY004X.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY004X.html).

    OK:
    DTC B1615/14 is not output.
    HINT:
    DTCs other than DTC B1615/14 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

2.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor LH.

    OK:
    Connectors are connected.

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor LH.

  1. Using a service wire, connect terminals A24-28 (-SL) and A24-30 (+SL) of connector B.

    NOTICE:
    Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector.
  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    A10-2 (+SL) - A10-1 (-SL)
    Below 1 Ω

    Below 1 V
    A10-1 (-SL) - Body ground

  1. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.

  1. Interchange the front airbag sensor LH with the front airbag sensor RH and connect the connectors to them.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Clear the DTCs (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY004X.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  1. Check for DTCs (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY004X.html).

  1. Using a service wire, connect terminals A10-1 (-SL) and A10-2 (+SL) of connector E.

    NOTICE:

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
