Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc) Removal


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

  7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR)

Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc) -- Removal


CAUTION:
Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (Toyota Fortuner RM000000KT10ELX.html).


1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Toyota Fortuner RM000004W63000X.html).


2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD


3. REMOVE STEERING PAD


    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50.Brake Control.Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc).Steering Angle Sensor (W/ Vsc) Removal

  1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the 2 screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

  1. Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel as shown in the illustration. Then support the steering pad with one hand.

    NOTICE:
    When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

  1. Disconnect the horn connector.

  1. Disconnect the connector and remove the steering pad.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.


4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the steering wheel set nut.

  1. Place matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.

  1. Using SST, remove the steering wheel.

5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER


    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Remove the 3 screws and lower cover.



6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER


7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR)

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.

  1. Detach the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable.
