INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CHECK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER AND PARKING BRAKE SWITCH)

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (BRAKE WARNING LIGHT)

VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM - Brake Warning Light does not Come ON


DESCRIPTION

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. After replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform calibration (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHR06WX.html).
  2. Before disconnecting the connector, make sure that there are no problems with the connection.
  3. After disconnecting the connector, make sure that the connector case and terminals are not deformed or corroded.
1.CHECK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Check that the brake warning light comes on.

    OK:
    The brake warning light comes on.


NG
Go to step 2
OK

REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (Toyota Fortuner RM0000010K0010X.html)

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER AND PARKING BRAKE SWITCH)

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

  1. Disconnect the C27 combination meter connector.

  1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    S25-8 (BRL) - C27-26
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    S25-8 (BRL) - Body ground
    		Always
    		10 kΩ or higher
    S25-29 (PKB) - P3-1
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    S25-29 (PKB) - Body ground
    		Always
    		10 kΩ or higher


NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK


3.PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (BRAKE WARNING LIGHT)

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Turn the intelligent tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test.

    ABS/VSC/TRC
    Tester Display
    		Test Part
    		Control Range
    		Diagnostic Note
    Brake Warning Light
    		Brake warning light
    		Warning light ON / OFF
    		Observe the combination meter.

  1. When performing the Brake Warning Light Active Test, check Brake Warning Light in the Data List.
