DTC C1430 Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch OFF Stuck Malfunction |
DTC C1431 Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch ON Stuck Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The brake pedal load sensing switch operates when the brake pedal is depressed with a force exceeding a predetermined level. The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects if the brake pedal is depressed or not via this circuit.DTC Code
| DTC Detection Condition
| Trouble Area
|
C1430
| Either condition is met:
- With the stop light switch on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off and the master cylinder pressure at 6 MPa or more, the deceleration is 0.4 G or more for 1 second or more.
- With the stop light switch on, the brake pedal load sensing switch off and the master cylinder pressure at 6 MPa or more, the vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph) for 5 seconds or more.
| - Brake pedal load sensing switch (Brake with switch pedal sub-assembly)
- Brake pedal load sensing switch circuit
- Brake pedal height and stop light switch installation
- Skid control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)
|
C1431
| Either condition is met:
- Immediately after the ignition switch is turned to ON, the brake pedal load sensing switch is on and the stop light switch is off for 10 seconds or more.
- The condition that the brake pedal load sensing switch remains on while the vehicle speed increases from 0 km/h (0 mph) to 30 km/h (18 mph) occurs 5 times in succession.

WIRING DIAGRAM
Refer to DTC C1429 (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XIR064X.html).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- After replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform calibration (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHR06WX.html).
- Before disconnecting the connector, make sure that there are no problems with the connection.
- After disconnecting the connector, make sure that the connector case and terminals are not deformed or corroded.
- HINT:
- When DTC C1425 is output together with DTC C1430 and/or C1431, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC C1425 first (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XIE0FMX.html).
1.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STOP LIGHT SW/BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SW) |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the intelligent tester on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.
ABS/VSC/TRCTester Display
| Measurement Item/Range
| Normal Condition
| Diagnostic Note
|
Stop Light SW
| Stop light switch / ON or OFF
| ON: Brake pedal depressed OFF: Brake pedal released

|
Check that the stop light switch display and brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the intelligent tester change according to the brake pedal operation.
- OK:
- The intelligent tester displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.
Slowly depress the brake pedal and check when the stop light switch and brake pedal load sensing switch are turned on.
- OK:
- The stop light switch turns on first, and then the brake pedal load sensing switch turns on.

Clear the DTC (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHV0C7X.html).
Turn the ignition switch off.
Start the engine.
Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more and perform a braking test (decelerate the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal).
Check if the same DTC is output (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHV0C7X.html).

- NOTICE:
- Do not remove the brake pedal load sensing switch from the brake with switch pedal sub-assembly.
- When there is a malfunction in the brake pedal load sensing switch, replace the brake with switch pedal sub-assembly.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the brake pedal load sensing switch (brake with switch pedal sub-assembly) connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection
| Condition
| Specified Condition
|
2 - 1
| Brake pedal depressed
| 950 to 1050 Ω
|
Brake pedal released
| 203 to 223 Ω
