DTC C1429 Open or Short in Brake Pedal Load Sensing Switch

DESCRIPTION

The brake pedal load sensing switch operates when the brake pedal is depressed with a force exceeding a predetermined level.
The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects if the brake pedal is depressed or not via this circuit.

DTC Code
DTC Detection Condition
Trouble Area
C1429
An open or short in the brake pedal load sensing switch continues for 0.3 seconds or more.
  1. Brake pedal load sensing switch (Brake with switch pedal sub-assembly)
  2. Brake pedal load sensing switch circuit
  3. Skid control ECU (Brake actuator assembly)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. After replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform calibration (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHR06WX.html).
  2. Before disconnecting the connector, make sure that there are no problems with the connection.
  3. After disconnecting the connector, make sure that the connector case and terminals are not deformed or corroded.
HINT:
When DTC C1425 is output together with DTC C1429, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC C1425 first (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XIE0FMX.html).
1.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (BRAKE PEDAL LOAD SENSING SW)
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  1. Turn the intelligent tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

    Diagnostic Note
    Brake Pedal Load Sensing SW
Brake pedal load sensing switch / ON or OFF
ON: Brake pedal depressed beyond specified point
OFF: Brake pedal not depressed beyond specified point
    -
  1. Check that the brake pedal load sensing switch display observed on the intelligent tester changes according to the brake pedal operation.

    OK:
The intelligent tester displays ON or OFF according to brake pedal operation.
