DESCRIPTION

These solenoids turn on when signals are received from the skid control ECU and control the pressure acting on the wheel cylinders to control the braking force.

When one of the following conditions is met:
  1. While a switching solenoid (SM1 or SM2) ON signal is being output, overcurrent continues for 0.15 seconds or more.
  2. While a switching solenoid (SM1 or SM2) OFF signal is being output, an open circuit continues for 0.05 seconds or more.
  3. While a switching solenoid (SM1 or SM2) ON signal is being output, an open circuit continues for 0.05 seconds or more.
  4. While a switching solenoid (SM1 or SM2) OFF signal is being output, current continues to be applied for 0.1 seconds or more.
  5. Short to GND in the switching solenoid (SM1 or SM2) continues for 0.1 seconds or more.
  6. Switching solenoids SM1 and SM2 are shorted for 0.1 seconds or more.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHR02TX.html).
1.RECONFIRM DTC
HINT:
These codes are detected when a problem is identified in the brake actuator assembly.
The solenoid circuits are in the brake actuator assembly.
Therefore, solenoid circuit inspection and solenoid unit inspection cannot be performed. Be sure to check if any DTC code is output before replacing the brake actuator assembly.
  1. Clear the DTC(s) (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHV09NX.html).

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph) or more.

  1. Check if the same DTC is recorded (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XHV09NX.html).

    HINT:
    1. If a speed signal of 6 km/h (4 mph) or more is input to the skid control ECU with the ignition switch ON and the stop light switch off, the ECU performs self diagnosis of the motor and solenoid circuits.
    2. If the normal system code is output (a trouble code is not output), slightly jiggle the connectors, wire harnesses, and fuses of the brake actuator assembly. Make sure that no DTCs are output.
    3. If any DTCs are output while jiggling a connector or wire harness from the brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU), inspect and repair the connector or wire harness.
    4. The DTCs may be output due to a bad connection at the connector terminal.
