Rear Shock Absorber Installation


  1. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  4. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  5. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER BOLT

Rear Shock Absorber -- Installation


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
  3. A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (Toyota Fortuner RM00000118W017X.html).


1. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY


Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Install the 3 retainers, 2 cushions, bracket and a new lock nut to the shock absorber.

    Torque:
    20 N*m{204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}

  1. Install the shock absorber to the frame with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    25 N*m{255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf}


2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY


Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Install 2 new bushes and the 2 retainers to the shock absorber.

  1. Temporarily install the shock absorber to the axle housing with the nut.



3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque:
105 N*m{1,071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}


4. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Press down on the vehicle several time to stabilize the suspension.



5. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER BOLT

  1. Tighten the bolt.

    Torque:
    82 N*m{816 kgf*cm, 60 ft.*lbf}
