Rear Coil Spring Installation


  1. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING

  2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  4. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  5. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  6. CONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE

  7. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

  8. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY

  9. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE

  10. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

  11. BLEED BRAKE LINE

  12. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR

  13. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE

Rear Coil Spring -- Installation


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
  3. A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (Toyota Fortuner RM00000118W017X.html).


1. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING


Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50.Suspension.Rear Coil Spring.Rear Coil Spring Installation

  1. Install the coil spring and insulator to the lower control arm and frame. Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the recess of the spring lower seat.



2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY


Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Support the axle housing.

    1. Jack up and support the vehicle's frame on stands.

    2. Lower the axle housing until the coil spring tension is free, and maintain this position.

  1. Remove the nut and 2 retainers.



    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Remove the 2 bolts.

  1. Disconnect the shock absorber and 2 bushes from the axle housing and frame.

  1. Remove the lock nut, bracket, 3 retainers and 2 cushions.



3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque:
105 N*m{1,071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}


4. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Press down on the vehicle several time to stabilize the suspension.



5. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

  1. Tighten the bolt.

    Torque:
    82 N*m{816 kgf*cm, 60 ft.*lbf}


6. CONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE

  1. Install the hose to the 3 way joint.

  1. Install the clip to the flexible hose.

  1. Connect the flexible hose to the brake line.

    Torque:
    23 N*m{235 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf}


7. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


8. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the tailpipe for 1KD-FTV (Toyota Fortuner RM000001212005X.html).

  1. Install the tailpipe for 1GR-FE (Toyota Fortuner RM000001216003X.html).



9. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE


Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Install the sensor with the bolt.

    Torque:
    8.5 N*m{87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf}
    NOTICE:
    Keep the sensor tip and sensor installation hole free from foreign matter.

  1. Connect the 3 clamps.

    NOTICE:
    Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the clamps.

  1. Connect the sensor connector.



10. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

  1. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid (Toyota Fortuner RM0000010MD004X.html).



11. BLEED BRAKE LINE

  1. Bleed the brake line (Toyota Fortuner RM000001HJ2001X.html).



12. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR

  1. Check the fluid level in the reservoir (Toyota Fortuner RM000001JEW001X.html).



13. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
