Transfer System -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. TRANSFER SYSTEM
NOTICE:
  1. for Automatic Transmission:
    To shift from H or HL to LL, stop the vehicle, move the shift lever to N, depress and hold the brake pedal, and then move the transfer shift lever.
  2. for Automatic Transmission:
    To shift from LL to H or HL, stop the vehicle, move the shift lever to N and then move the transfer shift lever.
  3. for Manual Transmission:
    To shift from H or HL to LL, stop the vehicle or reduce the vehicle's speed to less than 5 km/h (3 mph). Release the accelerator pedal, depress the clutch pedal and move the transfer shift lever.
  4. for Manual Transmission:
    To shift from LL to HH, depress the clutch pedal and move the transfer shift lever.


2. CHECK CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK INDICATOR LIGHT

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Move the transfer shift lever from the H position to the HL or LL position.

  1. Check that the center differential lock indicator light illuminates.

  1. Move the transfer shift lever from the HL or LL position to the H position.

  1. Check that the center differential lock indicator light turns off.

    HINT:
    1. If the indicator light does not turn off when you move the transfer shift lever into H, drive the vehicle straight ahead while accelerating or decelerating.
    2. If the indicator light does not turn on when you move the transfer shift lever into HL or LL, drive the vehicle straight ahead while accelerating or decelerating.
